Terms and conditions

Booking

To make a booking we require a 20% deposit, made via bank transfer. Once we receive this, we send a confirmation of your booking and receipt. Until we receive your deposit we cannot reserve your place.

The balance is payable 8 weeks before the start of your course. If the payment is not received by this date your place on the course will no longer be guaranteed, and can be offered to others.

Cancellations

Bookings can be cancelled at any time in writing by email.

If you wish to cancel your course, a full refund will be given if notice is received 8 weeks or more before the start of your course.

With less than 8 weeks notice the payment is non-refundable, unless we can fill your place and we will refund any amounts over the deposit.

We are also happy for you to find an alternative participant.

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are forced to cancel a workshop, participants will be informed immediately and receive a full refund of course fees. No further claims can be made.

We advise you to arrange comprehensive travel insurance, including cancellation cover.

Clothes and safety

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty! You can also bring or borrow an apron.

For the raku firing, wear cotton, not artificial fibres, as you can get sparks from the burning sawdust, though we do try to keep this to a minimum.

We will supply you with masks and gloves for glazing and firing.

If you want to help with the raku firing, bring leather shoes.

We advise short fingernails!

Diets

Please inform us of any dietary requirements. We attempt to accommodate all, but as we only have a small supermarket locally, with anything complicated we can communicate and work out alternative lunch menus. Also as choice is limited in the village and in Croatia, you may need to bring essentials or things you cant do without, also for your breakfast and evening meals. For example, strong english tea bags!

Accessibility

Povlja is an old fishing harbour village, with steep hills and footpaths between all the old houses to the harbour. A lot of the accommodation can be up several flights of stairs. If this is a problem, please let us know so we can advise on the best choice of apartments.

Behaviour

Course participants are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and acceptable manner and not to disrupt the enjoyment of the other guests. If in our opinion, or that of all others on the course, your behaviour is causing or is likely to cause distress, danger or annoyance to other guests, we reserve the right to terminate your booking with us immediately. We will have no further obligations to you. We do not tolerate violence or abuse in any form to our guests or ourselves.

We shall not be liable for any loss or damage to you as the result of:

- any event or circumstances which could have been avoided if reasonable care was taken by you

- force majeure, epidemic or other natural disasters, governmental action, power failure, illness, severe family emergencies, or any other event that is beyond our reasonable control.

By making a booking you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
